Eric Lewis was born and raised in Tennessee, and makes his home in Memphis. Proficient on multiple instruments (guitar, mandolin, banjo, steel guitar, and dobro), Eric won the 2003 Premier String Player Award from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS)-Memphis Chapter. He has opened for Travis Tritt and Chuck Berry, and has performed or recorded with Robin and Linda Williams, Cheri Knight, Keith Sykes, Claudia Russell, Amy LaVere, Jimbo Mathus, Jimmy Davis, and others. He recently toured with the national company of Patsy!, based on the life story of Patsy Cline. A longtime company member with the American Folklore Theatre in Wisconsin, Eric has released several CD’s with collaborators Andy Ratliff and Tommy Burroughs including Heritage, Live in Fish Creek, The Only Home I’ve Had, and Walk the Road with Me. His annual concert at Fishstock in Door County, Wisconsin draws over 800 people. Eric’s performances have earned many critical raves, including The Memphis Flyer’s Mark Jordan’s description of him as “one of the city’s finest pickers.” More information on Eric is available at: www.myspace.com/ericfuzzyfingerslewis .

Doc (aka Fred) Heide has released three CD’s, including 1990’s Lessons I Learned From The Moon (featuring instrumentals by Paul McCandless, Ira Stein, and Hans Christian) and 2005’s Peaceful Kingdom (which has earned comparisons to the writing of Bob Dylan and Warren Zevon by critics in the US and abroad with no apparent hearing loss). A Kerrville New Folk Finalist, Doc was named a top regional musician in the "Best of 2008" poll by Door County Magazine. Doc is co-founder, first board president, artistic advisor, playwright, and performer with American Folklore Theatre, which Money Magazine has called “one of the top regional theatres in the country.” A Wisconsin native, Doc has co-authored 18 musicals which have been seen by over 100,000 people. They include the long-running hit comedy Belgians in Heaven and the world’s first science-fiction football musical, Packer Fans from Outer Space, both coauthored with Lee Becker and James Kaplan. In his spare time, Doc is associate professor at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University in San Francisco, where he has won both the Master Teacher and Teacher of the Year awards.

Press Release: This CD is an ethereal collection of both famed and rare Christmas carols, presented on acoustic guitar and mandolin. All carols are traditional and up to 14 centuries old.

Jim Lee of Dirty Linen Magazine called the CD “lovely, low-key… and tastefully done…it’s sure to make for a nice soundtrack for opening gifts on Christmas morning”.

According to Richard Banks ( www.christmasreviews.com ), “Its delicate bouquet is that of a fine red wine, and would perhaps be enjoyed in a dimly-lit folk venue over a glass or two. These two masters of the contemporary acoustic idiom deliver a wonderfully nuanced performance. Less is more here, and it is hard to see where anything could be added to these arrangements that could make them any better.”

Warren Gerds (Green Bay Press-Gazette) described it as "a full-fledged treat" and "beautifully crafted...Warmth and skill radiate."

The artists are Eric Lewis (2003 winner of the Best String Player Award from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences-Memphis Chapter) and Doc Heide (co-founder of the wildly popular American Folklore Theatre and a 35-year veteran of the professional musical theatre stage). The "Door County Advocate" described Doc and Eric as "a cure for the winter blues." Eric has performed with such luminaries as Robin and Linda Williams and opened for Travis Tritt, Chuck Berry, and others. The Memphis Flyer has described him as "one of the city's finest pickers." Doc has recorded two other CD’s, both available on CDBaby. This is Doc and Eric’s first project as a duo.

The CD was named for Wisconsin’s Door County peninsula, where it was recorded in a cozy farmhouse studio. The mood is quiet and reflective, invoking a roaring fire in the fireplace and snow gently falling outside the windows. We hope that it will remind you of cookies baking in the oven and friends gathering on long winter nights.
