Rob has been in the music business for many years in the mid west playing in various bands, doing session work, and playing one man shows throughout the Iowa, MN, and South Dakota region. He has been writing and recording songs during the past 10 years or so. Rob grew up in South Dakota where his dad raised him on a steady diet of country music from Jimmy Rogers to Johnny Cash. When he was a kid, it was not uncommon for his dad to load the whole family in the car (usually on a school night) and head off to one of the traveling Grand Ol Opry shows that would periodically come to Sioux Falls. That's where as a kid he saw such greats as Hank Snow, Faron Young, Johnny Cash, Ray Price, Merle Haggard, and others.

Then the Beatles and adolescence hit and he became a rock and roller, playing in a string of rock bands from high school and years beyond, while still following some of the more "hip" forms of country like the "Sweetheart of the Rodeo" Byrds, Gram Parsons, the Flying Burrito Bros. etc. After a little detour into gospel and celtic music a few years ago, the country seeds that were planted way back when he was a kid started to sprout. These sprouts however came with some weird genetic mutations as the result of all the varied influences picked up along the way. The final result can be heard on the new CD "Down On The Ground." The CD includes a blend of acoustic and electric tunes all penned by Rob. "Down On The Ground" features Rob on acoustic and electric guitar, dobro, lap steel, and drums, along with a little help from friends Jim Ellickson (electric guitar), Mike Thompson (bass), and Pat Sweeny (fiddle).
