Biography:

Lachi is a powerful and enchanting singer/songwriter, who's music can best be described as piano-driven, jazz-influenced alternative rock.

Sultry, smooth, intelligent and bold, Lachi commands cleverly crafted, insightful yet quirky lyrics. They steer away from mediocrity and carry with them a message of natural beauty and internal conflict, managing to captivate the hearts of many. She holds a deep connection with her music, which can be felt and shared with everyone who watches her on stage. Along with band mates Andrew Boxer on drums, Andre Donatien on guitar and Jamie Diaz on bass, this Manhattan-based singer/songwriter reveals her heart and mind as she unleashes her eclectic musings.
 

She has performed at Joe's Pub with Petra Haden and Club Midway with Annie Quick. She also found a spot on the NYU Gallatone Records compellation CD of 2007. She has performed at the New York City Music Festival and The Mid Atlantic Music Festival. She and her band has performed at the Musical Emerging Artists of New York Festival, the Emergenza Music Festival and at many venues around the Tri-State area including Maxwell's in New Jersey, and Sullivan Hall, The Bowery Poetry Club and Fontana's in New York City.


Lachi has recently completed the EP Ugly Beautiful and has already won a placement among a respected compilation album entitled Violet Femmes for her song "We Can Fly." She has signed a world-wide digital distribution deal with MJM and a physical distribution with Borders Books and MusicPartly inspired by the trials and tribulations she faces as a legally blind musician, Lachi's lyrical prowess has won her recognition as a Musician's Atlas' 2006 Independent Music Awards finalist and a featured spot on Computer Music Magazine in 2007. Urban Mainstream Magazine praises her as a "gifted and inspiring young lady."

 


Press Release: One of New York’s very own energetic rock songstresses, Lachi, is set to release her diversified EP album entitled “Ugly Beautiful” January 24th. The release will be held at Gavin Degraw's National Underground 159 E. Houston St, NY NY. The album will also be digitally distributed worldwide and available through Borders Books and Music. 

Lachi has been recognized by several magazines including; Computer Music Mag, NYU News and Urban Mainstream and has received an Independent Music Awards nomination in 2006 by Musician’s Atlas.

Lachi is also not just another typical artist; she uses her personal life stories of being a shy introverted girl to express a unique perspective of the world, which can be heard throughout her lyrics.

“You could say my introversion made me compassionate and thoughtful,” says Lachi adding “it’s basically like reading my diary to tons of people I’ve never seen before.”

Lachi can soon be seen traveling throughout New York City and other Northeastern cities promoting the release of “Ugly Beautiful” while ultimately creating new life stories to share through her music in future releases. Lachi brings many different instruments and cultures to her music, making “Ugly Beautiful” stand out with an eclectic feel. Lachi is expected to have an unforgettable 2009 and spectacular success with “Ugly Beautiful”.
