Montreal, Canada - His name is Stephen. He is a McGill electrical engineering graduate who has always had R & B music with that acoustic touch. Stephen moved to Canada from Nigeria years ago, which was a life -altering decision he made. Stephen didn't see success in relation to music career in Nigeria, but everything changed when he moved to Canada. He saw all the possibilities and changed his thoughts about the direction he would take in his music. It wasn't an easy start, however. He wasn't happy with the direction that the choices he made was leading him to. He decided to take his frustrations out by putting his music on MySpace.
In Canada, Stephen was part of a singing duet group called Jasmine's Voyce, a duet group that started during the last year of high school. Eventually, the duet dissolved and Voyce branched out on his own and retained the name Voyce. Now he's known as just "Voyce*" "The name Voyce*, which is an obviously play on the word voice, represents my way of expressing my emotions, my desire to speak my mind and to have my thoughts heard. I am a writer/singer/producer." Voyce*'s new single, "Far Too Long", is off of his newest album, "Alone In A Crowd". "Far Too Long", won the Mix 96 Radiostar Competition in Montreal in 2008. The song speaks of the difficulties of trying to find one's place - not just in the music industry but in the world in general. Voyce* feels the pressure of people trying to standardize him. He is not one who will disappear in the crowd. He forms his on crowd. Voyce* has an independent spirit, an image that is all his own. It's allowing his freedom to be who he is, and being accepted without the fight.
The theme of this song is just that. "Rebellion in the sense that I choose to deviate from what is considered typical "r&b" and acceptance because I accept to be different and that is my strongest selling point - a new vision of music." His sound is a fusion of electric sounds - from voice distortion to electric piano symphonic sounds. Voyce* experiments and develops new sounds through his unique talent. His music is true genius! Despite having two previous albums, "Prelude To Redemption" and "Second Trip To Space", this newest album is considered his true first commercial release. The technique's used to record this album is quite different that his first two. Although "Far Too Long" has that dance vibe mixed in with deep lyrics, there are other songs on this album that reflect a true softer side, excitement, anger, love and loneliness. "Each song on this new album speaks of a person that has always felt "Alone In A Crowd" ", says Voyce*. Voyce* has just scraped the surface of what his abilities are. "There is more to us than who we feel we should be". As he experiments with sound, Voyce* created those special technical sounds that brands his music as his own, bringing his music to a mainstream level, while maintaining the importance of the emotion. There is no release date on his new album, "Alone In A Crowd". However, you can hear his songs on his myspace sight at
www.myspace.com/voyceproduction .
Description: My music reflects me, who I am, where I have been and where I will go. I don't try to fit myself into a genre because at anytime, my music can jump from one to the next. Music is expression; it can make you happy, it can make you sad.
