PINK STĖĖL Fights Mormon Crickets with Gay Metal

Bad Boys from Bremen Combat Insect Swarms in Small Nevada Town

Tuscarora, NV: The citizens of tiny Tuscarora (population: 13) fight annual swarms of Mormon Crickets with loud rock music--and legendary gay heavy metal outfit PINK STĖĖL is pitching in by donating copies of their album, OUT AT THE DEVIL.

According to a recent article in the WALL STREET JOURNAL (“Against Insect Plague, Nevadans Wield Ultimate Weapon: Hard Rock,” April 24, 2000) the sonic frequencies of loud rock music are the only proven deterrent for this crop-depleting, town-defacing nuisance.

As soon as PINK STĖĖL read about The Tuscarorans’ predicament, the New-York-based, Bremen, Germany-bred band sprang into action. They immediately sent 14 copies of OUT AT THE DEVIL to Tuscarora--one for each member of the town, and one to Mix 96.7, their local rock music station, located in nearby Elko, NV.

Special abilities turn the tide of battle

PINK STĖĖL insist that their unique brand of rock can combat the crickets as none other can.

“Our songs, especially ‘Converter,’ can change gender preferences at thirty meters.” Explained band leader Udo Von DuYu. “We hope to turn the crickets gay and reduce their breeding numbers for next year.”

“The PINK STĖĖL sound will prevent them from even touching the crops. Have you heard Hanson (Jobb, lead vocals)’s high notes? I swear we once got an email from the next town over claiming we hurt someone’s dog.”

Meet “The Pink and Black Bareback Attack”

PINK STĖĖL is Singer Hanson Jobb, guitarist Udo Von DuYu, bassist Klaus Schave and drummer Helmut Bang, creating crossover comedy-rock cabaret that co-mingles gay culture and heavy metal bluster with punch-line songwriting. Each performance gives every audience front row seats to a stadium-style rock show unlike any other.

According to Instinct Magazine, the band has "...made gay heavy metal history." HX Magazine raves, "Their hysterical and catchy songs meld Ozzy Ozbourne with Oscar Wilde." In addition to conquering the New York City club scene, the Bad Boys from Bremen have blown away music festivals such as CMJ, Homocorps and Oktoberfist, comedy festivals including the Chicago and Seattle Sketchfests, and have appeared on the WGN-TV Morning News.

THE HISTORY:

Born in Bremen, Germany, Hanson Jobb and Udo Von DuYu have made good on their sacred pledge to "conquer the world, one bath house at a time." But PINK STEEL's rightful place in the great book of Gay Heavy Metal has been 20 years in the making.

"The two have made gay heavy metal history."
--INSTINCT Magazine

The flashpoint of this journey was September 1983, when founding members Udo Von DuYu (guitar, vocals) and Hanson Jobb (vocals) encountered each other in a smoky Rotterdam bathhouse/nightclub. Hanson had just finished "chatting" in the back room with several Nigerian wrestlers. A forlorn Udo was smothering his sorrows at the bar after his lover had left him for a cantaloupe with a hole cut in it. The two natives of Bremen, Germany immediately recognized each other from high school swim team. And the rest--as documented in the power ballad "Two Men Enter, One Man Loves"--is Gay Heavy Metal history.

PINK STEEL have spread the gospel of Gay Heavy Metal ever since, covering the eastern U.S., northern Europe, and parts of Estonia. With the seminal albums Mouth Full of Magic, Creaming for Vengeance, and the upcoming Out at the Devil, PINK STEEL have duly carved their names into men's room walls and into hard rock legend.
