Aaron English #1 Most Added in FMQB Modern A/C radio

The debut track, “Believe”, from the album american [fever] dream, was the #1 most-added single in FMQB Modern A/C radio for the week of April 27th-May 4th.

(Seattle, WA) May 6, 2010 – A mention on a top, internationally watched TV drama can sometimes be the spark that ignites a career. In an episode of the Fox TV drama Bones last year, a character made a mix of “the six greatest break-up songs” and gave it to a heart-broken colleague. The mix featured songs from alternative-pop stars such as Sia, Mazzy Star, José González, Antony and the Johnsons…and a lone unsigned artist by the name of Aaron English.

For the past five years, Seattle-based piano-man Aaron English has been steadily building a buzz in the U.S., thanks to two self-released albums, increasing media attention (such as the shout-out on Bones), and three national tours playing in clubs and at summer festivals to crowds of up to 4,000 people.

Now all of this momentum has culminated in the release of his third album, american [fever] dream, and the first-week success of his debut single, “Believe”, on Modern A/C radio. “Believe” beat out new singles from Rob Thomas and Train for the honor of this week’s most-added record.

The name of the single – and the title of the new album - are oblique references to a catastrophic tour bus accident, two years ago, on a Midwestern highway while English was on tour: “My bus was totalled in the crash, and most of the musical equipment was destroyed as well,” says English. “The tour was cancelled. I wrote this new album from a space of needing to decide whether I was going to keep believing in the music, keep following the dream.”

News of Aaron English’s activity on the Modern A/C and AAA charts this summer and updates on a twelve-city U.S. tour – to follow shortly.

Advance press from Triple-A radio legend Jim Nelson: “I’m listening to Aaron English’s taster track for the umpteenth consecutive time and it sounds really good to me...I think if he were on a major label this is the kind of song that would get top priority. I can’t wait to hear more of his stuff!”

Biography: “…a talented new artist in a class with other stylistically challenging singer-songwriters such as Peter Gabriel, Joseph Arthur and Perry Blake… potent lyricism, eloquence, and beautiful sublime melodies that reach much deeper than simple pop songs...”
- Mark Newman, Progression Magazine

For the past five years, Seattle-based piano-man Aaron English has been steadily building a buzz in the U.S., thanks to two self-released albums and three national tours with his seven-piece ensemble, The Aaron English Band. But in 2008, English’s third national tour ended abruptly in a catastrophic accident on a Midwestern highway. His restaurant-grease-fueled tour bus and most of his musical equipment were destroyed, and English’s touring career was temporarily grounded.

In the summer of 2009, however, his fans rallied to his aid and funded the recording of Aaron's third album, american [fever] dream. Produced by Geoff Stanfield (Sun Kil Moon, Black Lab) in a 150-year-old warehouse in Seattle during a record-breaking heat wave, the album is a document of English’s phoenix-like journey back from tragedy…and a testament to the resiliency of the creative spirit.
