Since the emergence of Erykah Badu, spirituality and music has been commercially accepted in the form of what is now called “Nu Neo Classic Soul”. This brand of R&B is smothered in cultural statements, poetic wordplay fused with jazz and hip-hop undertones. Artist such as: Jill Scott, Amel Larrieux, D’Angelo, India Arie and even the hip hop band “The Roots” have all been at the forefront of this musical revolution. The latest edition to this Nu Neo Classic Soul movement is Cleveland native, Ty Gibson. Singing at the tender age of 6, a young Ty Gibson, mimicked legendary singers such as Nina Simone, Denise Williams, Whitney Houston and Minnie Riperton. Performing professionally for about 10 years, Ty Gibson is no stranger to the stage. She has toured nationally from New York to the West Coast and many places in between. Internationally she's done tours in Japan, Thailand and Korea, thus fertilizing the market with her infectious voice and dynamic stage presence.

If you can imagine the voice of Denise Williams and Jill Scott, the subject matter and production of Bilal, Erykah Badu and the Roots, then you can visualize the universal success of & Ty Gibson

“Brazilian Lullaby”

Music that soothes the soul is just what the doctor ordered with Ty’s latest project. She seems to have a way with words and melodies that are not complex yet open to allowing the average listener to interpret life and love for themselves.

While on her travels, Ty manage to stir in a mixture of culture which wets the appetite for adventure infused with love. Friendships need to be cultivated in a world starving for its very existence without which we cannot survive.

The title track,” Brazilian Lullaby”, was written for lovers all over the world, while cruising through the Virgin Islands. “Drifting” was written about those friendships that always come together at the right time and then drift for a period unknown yet never forgetting its inception. With tracks like “The Tongue” and “That Ain’t Right” Ty got a chance to show her clever side, which gave way to her more subtle side when she penned,” Ray of Sunshine”, “Higher Than the Sky”, ‘Smooth Dance” and “I Love You”.

Ty had some very inspiring collaborations on this project that allow her to explore her more intra-creative side. It made it easy for her to really hone in on her Jazz, Nu Neo Soul itchings.

There is no slowing down with Ty as she takes off on another adventure.
