Two Lost Tracks Featuring Prince on Guitar,  New CD By 94East

Maple Grove, MN July 1, 2008 — The group, 94 East, whose previous albums “Minneapolis Genius” and “Symbolic Beginning” featured Prince’s first professional recordings, is releasing a new CD with two never-before-heard songs featuring Prince on guitar. The official release date is April 29, 2008.

“94 East featuring 10:15 & Fortune Teller Remix with Prince on Guitar”, distributed by Koch Entertainment as part of an exclusive digital distribution deal, will be available on Itunes, and other major digital service providers, as well as www.pepemusic.com . The tracks “10:15” and “Fortune Teller” include a teenage Prince’s guitar work from the “70s. Both songs were recorded in 1977 when 94 East signed with Polydor Records, under the direction of Hank Cosby (who penned Stevie Wonder’s hit “My Cherie Amour). Cosby wrote “Fortune Teller;” Pepe Willie penned “10:15.”

The collaboration happened by accident. Both Prince and 94 East were producing music at Sound 80 in Minneapolis, when Prince asked to sit in on the session. He asked whether he could play with them again and the guitar tracks on “10:15” and “Fortune Teller” are a result of that collaboration.

94 East’s new CD includes 12 tracks, 10 of which are brand new. This release also launches Pepe Music Inc.’s new label, Reo Deo.

94 East previously released “Minneapolis Genius/94 East, The Historic 1977 Recordings” in the U.S., U.K. and Japan; and “94 East featuring Prince, Symbolic Beginning” in the U.K.

The Reo Deo label is owned by Pepe Music Inc., a production, publishing and consulting company operating in Minneapolis since 1977. Please contact Kristie Lazenberry for further information at 763-420-4032.

Biography: 94 East was originally founded in 1975. The group was started by Pepé Willie and included musicians from the Twin Cities: Pepé Willie, Marcy Ingvoldstad, Kristie Lazenberry, Wendell Thomas, Andre Lewis, Pierre Lewis, and Dale Alexander. (Dale Alexander was later replaced by Bobby Z Rifkin who went on to play with The Revolution.) Today, remaining band members are Pepé, Marcy and Kristie.

When 94 East first went into the studio back in 1975, they hired a then-unknown musician, Prince Nelson, who recorded tracks on over a dozen songs by 94 East. Many of 94 Easts songs with Prince tracks have been previously released first on Minneapolis Genius in 1985, and then on Symbolic Beginning in 1995. The 94 East CD, 94 East featuring 10:15 & Fortune Teller Remix with Prince on Guitar, contains 2 songs that have never been released from 94 East catalogue with Prince tracks. All the other songs are brand new tracks.
