A journey in time and space, between electronic sonorities and unexpected suggestive acoustical sonorities in Hidalgo's debut album, an engaging story in music of objects, places, atmospheres and emotions.
Hidalgo encloses all her sensuality in a journey among objects and distant places in time and space, able to excite often contrasting emotions and sensations. An artist of multiple emotions and sonorities, able to reach the deepest feeling and transmit it to the listener, transporting him, as in a dream, before that object or to that place. All this in the extraordinary recounts in music, of Tales and Tales, the debut album of the young Italian artist Hidalgo.
Produced by the independent Macrorec label, recorded and mixed in the
Alfacentauri recording studios, “Tales and Tales” is a real emotional and sensory adventure, a sort of musical itinerary where
memorized images and lived moments take shape through sounds, then told by
emphasizing colors and scents, particularly evocative and sometimes nostalgic, with fairy-tale caricatures to fill that subtle boundary between dream and reality.
You cannot catalogue this adventure of voices and sounds with one single musical genre, which ranges from the ballad (Have a good Time) to symphonic episodes, a conversation is developed which uses classical and acoustical sonorities (The Gentle Wind) along with ethnic nuances, definitely more lounge (Flying across your sky) and electronic quotes, at times chamber music lyricism (Salve Regina). And the binding force is this strong heterogeneity of genre and style, the meeting point of the imaginary story.
Easy to intuit from the title of some of the compositions, the inspiring reason: starting from the tale of a picturesque and adventuresome journey in India (Calcutta Express), the
hypnotizing static quality of a face and of a smile Monnalisa, the
ecumenical and biblical musical version of the Creation Pangea, the philosophical Eastern vision of the theory of opposites Zenith et Nadir; however for others it is possible to imagine more intimate or less obvious motivations, perhaps simple musical emotions dictated by inspiration and
moment.
Different realities and emotions among them which give life to a suggestive journey, a mosaic able to profoundly touch the listener, transporting him on the wings of the wind with its surprising electronic and acoustical sonorities. |
